A new exciting way to protect your users and customers with OneID, as they say Goodbye to User Name and Password Logins, and Hello to OneID

The other day, while I was browsing my security RSS feeds, I got to know about OneID, which is a new and an exciting way for protecting your end-users and customers, for accessing corporate information and assets.

Now let me share some of the information about how this idea works

What is OneID?

So What is OneID? OneID is a next-generation digital identity service that makes it easy for customers to securely sign into sites and make payments online, especially when using mobile devices. OneID reduces the friction, fraud and costs associated with these customer activities and removes the hassles and exposures surrounding authentication and financial transactions.

The OneID digital identity system is comprised of software that runs in four different places: browsers, mobile devices, websites and the cloud. All of these elements combine to provide a solution that is easy to use, secure, and easy to deploy and support.

How do one click features work?

The OneID service is based on the simple fact that individuals always access sites from devices (computers, tablets, or smart phones). When a user creates a OneID account, they then securely add all of their devices.

Automatic sign in
When users sign in to your site, instead of usernames and passwords identifying them, their OneID digital identity lets their devices tell you who they are. This method is absolutely secure, and eliminates password phishing and other risks associated with traditional password-based authentication. OneID Sign In also eliminates forgotten usernames/passwords and helps prevent duplicate accounts.

Instant account registration
If a OneID user is accessing your site for the first time and needs to create an account, they simply click the OneID Sign In button. The OneID service then asks their permission to share the information from their OneID that you need to create their account. All they need to do is click Yes and the information is sent instantly. Plus, when a user updates the information in their OneID you are automatically sent updates the next time they use your site.

Checkout
When a OneID user wants to checkout, they can simply click OneID Checkout. The OneID service will ask the user verify the information you need to complete the transaction (shipping address, billing address, etc.). The user can then click OK to confirm and complete checkout, or Edit to adjust any details.

Cheers!
