NEWS: Microsoft to introduce ‘Community Contributor Award’

Microsoft ‘Community Contributor Award’

Microsoft Community Contributor Award
Microsoft is set to introduce a new community award scheme aimed at those who contribute to the company’s online community forums.

Sites such as TechNet, MSDN and Answers will all be included in the scheme which launches next week. The new award differs from the current Most Valuable Professional (MVP) awards that are distributed yearly. Anyone with worthy contributions to Microsoft’s online community forums can receive an award. Current Microsoft employees and MVPs are not eligible for the Community Contributor Award.

Microsoft employees and MVPs can suggest names of individuals to be considered for the Community Contributor Award. All awardees must be 18 years or older and will receive a 12 month complimentary subscription to Microsoft’s Press E-Reference Library which contains over 400 books from Microsoft Press. “Through the Microsoft Community Contributor Award, we express our thanks to individuals who freely volunteer their time and energy to help improve the Microsoft online technical community experience for others,” reads a statement on the new program.

Microsoft says it will notify the first round of lucky contributors on November 15. The software giant plans to nominate new winners on a monthly basis.
