Zahir,
I need your help regarding transition of Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. Giving you brief idea how the Exchange been setup in my Organization. Exchange Frontend (OWA+IMF) is working while Exchange Backend containing Storage Groups with no cluster.
Do I need to go with Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010 ?
Give me the link to follow the steps that should be helpfull for the transition of Exchange 2003 to 2010.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards,
Rashid Kamal
Dear Rashid,
Thanks for the appreciation, afterwards I’d say that you dont need to go for Exchange 2007, becuase you can directly jump to the Exchange 2010.
Your Migratino path would be like this:
1) Upgrade the Exchange 2003 Organization Mode to NATIVE MODE, by default it would be in MIXED MODE.
2) Install Exchange 2010 HUB / CAS roles on ONE or TWO boxes, if you are going to have FOUR hardware boxes dedicated for Exchange 2010 Organization.
3) After installing Exchange 2010 HUB / CAS, then Install Exchange 2010 Mailbox Server Roles.
4) After insalling the Exchange Mailbox Server roles, then you can move all the Exchange 2003 mailboxes from Exchange 2010 Management Console.
DAG-Database Availability Group (HIGH AVAILABILITY) creation stuff you can find here on my blog.
Furthermore, I will post a step by step guide for you.
